Stray Souls is a thrilling third-person and action-horror game that pays homage to the classics of the genre while introducing fresh gameplay elements. Developed by Jukai Studio and powered by the Unreal Engine 5 and MetaHuman technology, this game offers a bone-chilling experience that combines photorealistic graphics, immersive storytelling, intense combat, and mind-bending puzzles. 

At the heart of Stray Souls lies a malevolent plot that was set into motion on the day of Daniel’s birth. As you embark on a journey through Aspen Falls, you’ll uncover the town’s dark secrets, intricately woven into Daniel’s own family history. 

Bone-chilling and dark

In Stray Souls, the narrative unfolds through a combination of cutscenes, environmental storytelling, and branching dialogue options, allowing you to shape Daniel’s personality and influence the outcome of the story. The immersive storytelling keeps you engaged and eager to uncover the chilling truth behind Daniel’s existence. Unlike traditional action-horror games that rely on overwhelming firepower, it takes a whole new different approach. 

The combat system emphasizes strategy and resource management, providing a Souls-like precision that tests players’ skills and reflexes. You can choose to stand your ground and face hordes of terrifying creatures or employ clever tactics to evade enemies and conserve your limited resources. This choice adds a layer of tension and decision-making, making each encounter a thrilling and calculated risk. 

In addition to its intense combat sequences, it also presents you with a wide array of clever puzzles that demand out-of-the-box thinking. These puzzles serve as gateways to progress through the game and reward you for your deductive reasoning and problem-solving abilities. However, once players have completed the game, the lack of significant variations in subsequent playthroughs reduces the game’s long-term appeal.

Official release goodies

To celebrate the game’s official release, its PC version can be purchased in a bundle that offers two significant additions to enhance the gaming experience —  an official soundtrack and a Sacred Tome artbook. The former is a special collaboration, featuring the talents of amazing guest composer Akira Yamaoka, known for his work on Silent Hill, and seasoned indie composer Pete Wicher.

It comprises an impressive total of 60 tracks that run over three hours, with exclusive bonus tracks that weren’t included in the game. Meanwhile, the Sacred Tome artbook is a stunning compilation of gothic watercolor illustrations from artist Phil Worobey, accompanied by a comprehensive digital lore library that houses all notes, letters, and other documentation found in-game. However, it’s important to note that the aforementioned bundle is only available via PC version purchases.
